Gorkana held a special breakfast event that looked beyond social media strategies in place and discussed how brands can build and nurture your online communities to successfully turn fans into advocates.

An expert panel were on hand to share case studies from brands that are leading the way such as Nokia, Evian and MEATliquor and they explored what drives advocacy and what role PR can play.

Azeem Azhar

Azeem Azhar

Founder, PeerIndex

Azeem founded the social influence analytics company PeerIndex in 2009. Since then, PeerIndex have created the Influence Graph - an enormous data set of social media users' influence overall and in particular topics - and delivered influence marketing campaigns for brands like Ford, Virgin Media and Reebok.

He has been launching and building internet services ever since 1993 when he put his University newspaper on Gopher. His career has covered journalism (at the Economist and The Guardian), strategy (at the BBC and Reuters) and more than a decade of start-ups. He is a frequent speaker at events like LIFT, Red Herring and the London Web Summit and has spoken at business schools around the world.

Azeem also regularly provides industry commentary and insight to global media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, FT and the NYT and is an investor and advisor to several start-ups, specialising on consumer internet and disruptive technology.

Molly is WOM Evangelist for 1000heads, the leading global word of mouth specialists. She heads up the WOMAcademy training programme, helping businesses such as Nokia, Mars and Cancer Research UK to adopt a social approach from the inside out. Molly has also presented keynotes on word of mouth across the world, including the WOMMA Summit in Las Vegas and the Colombian Advertising Congress in Bogota. She writes regularly on books, technology and culture for on and offline publications such as AdMap and The Guardian, loves forests, cities, unicorns and negronis, and is currently working on her first novel.

Warren Johnson

Warren founded W in September 2009, and the award-winning agency now has more than 40 clients. From Evening Standard, MTV and Drambuie to the former London 2012 Olympic Athlete's village – East Village, W Hotel and MEATliquor, Warren specialises in delivering creative, strategic and commercial counsel. He is a regular speaker at PR events and commentator on the PR and media industries, and has been instrumental in financially backing five separate clients, including MEATliquor. He also actively invests agency time in pro–bono activity including Teenage Cancer Trust and The Special Olympics.
