City and Financial PR Awards 2016 is open for entries in launch year

The City and Financial PR Awards, which has been jointly launched by industry body PRCA and the Company of PR Practitioners, is open for entries in 12 categories ahead of its inaugural event on 25 February 2016.

The event, which will be hosted by broker and market commentator David Buik (pictured), is being supported by Gorkana and aims to recognise the "talent and impact of individuals, teams and campaigns from the best of the City PR profession".

It comprises 12 categories such as 'Best IPO campaign', 'City agency of the year' and 'Best city journalist/blogger'. The judging panel is made up of City and agency communicators, as well as senior journalists.

Presenter Buik has spent 53 years in the City, working most recently as a market commentator appearing regularly on the BBC, Bloomberg TV and CNN International.

Buik said: "I am very pleased to be compering this, the inaugural City and Financial PR Awards. It has been a fantastic year for financial and corporate communications, and this promises to be a great celebration of all the hard work that we have seen.”

Francis Ingham, PRCA director general and master of the Company of PR Practitioners, added: “It is great news that such an esteemed commentator on the City will be compering the City and Financial PR Awards 2016. David will be a very apt host as we recognise the very best of the sector.”

Early bird entries are open until 18 December and the the final deadline for entries is 8 January. The ceremony takes place on 25 February 2016 at the Merchant Taylors Hall in the City of London.
