Newsweek Europe hires Prospect's Serena Kutchinsky as digital editor as it expands European editorial team

Newsweek Europe, the weekly news magazine, has announced the appointment of Prospect's Serena Kutchinsky as digital editor as it expands its editorial team with a number of new hires and aims to expand the reach of its web site.

Kutchinsky has worked on a variety of other publications including The Sunday Times, Time Out and thelondonpaper.

Graham Smith has been hired as Kutchinsky’s deputy online news editor and joins Newsweek from businesstraveller.com. Smith also formerly worked on Mail Online.

Matt McAllester, Newsweek Europe’s editor, said: “Together with Serena we’ll be playing a key leadership role as we grow the staff and the site’s reach and influence.”

Kutchinsky said: “I am delighted to be joining such a historic title and to have the opportunity to develop its digital future. We are putting together an exciting and dedicated team of reporters who will be covering an incredibly diverse range of topics.”

Other hires include Naina Bajekal who joins Newsweek on 11 January from TIME; Teddy Cutler, who is set to move from The Times and Josh Lowe who has written for the New Statesman, The Telegraph, The Times and the Evening Standard. Anthony Cuthbertson will also join the team from sister title International Business Times (IBT).
